SLIC Training bring learning to the towns and cities of Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire
We have received funding through Access Alliance Partnership to bring our learning environment to the candidates of Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire by purchasing a SLIC training vehicle. The vehicle is fully Disability compliant and will be kitted out with laptops and workstations for up to 6 candidates per session to learn and upskill in a classroom environment. The Training Hub Project aims to develop and integrate a sustainable solution for beneficiaries to access learning within both counties.
The Training Hub will be used to extend our current training provision through our trained assessors being able to bring the learning experience to the beneficiaries’ immediate vicinity whether they live in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire, in a rural or in a town centre community. With an individually tailored approach for beneficiaries’ needs the Training Hub will cater for:
+ Those beneficiaries not in education, employment or training.
This will assist them to get “job ready” and back into the workforce through working on confidence, interview techniques, CV writing, and bite size courses to work with computer based packages used in the workplace.
+ Those beneficiaries who are employed and wish to progress their learning on a pre-determined basis.
The classroom will be a purpose built vehicle which is Disability Discrimination Act compliant with easy access to the vehicle and the learning experience for those with disability or mobility needs. With adaptable seating the vehicle can accommodate 6no learners, with further learning being able to take place under canopy at the side of the vehicle if appropriate. Having an interactive whiteboard, hearing loop, and a teaching area at the front of the vehicle, the vehicle will be suitable to provide various learning styles including class teaching, practical assessments, drop-in tailored support, and one to one supported programmes. Business Development & Marketing Manager, James Annerson commented that “this latest edition to the SLIC Training fleet mirrors our candidate and employer responsive training provision, and with a bold plan for the exterior of the vehicle planned, the SLIC Training vehicle will bring learning to the individuals and will be coming to a town or city near you soon!”
