Horticulture students support new project
SLIC Training full time horticulture students and horticulture technicians help support a new project at Postern House Farm at Tatenhill near Burton on Trent. The students have spent a week laying new turf to areas which will be as part of a large working farm, play and educational facility for visitors of any age.
The students have worked hard learning new skills in laying turf as part of their NVQ qualifications and have been able to work on a busy site and seeing the project grow. The students have enjoyed visiting the site and making a practical difference to the project and working together as a team. The Postern Farm project is based close to Burton on Trent and the students were able to get to the site by using the SLIC Training Ltd minibus. Matt Cox, Horticultural Tutor said “It has been hard work but the end results looks very good and the students have enjoyed being involved in the project”.
The new project will include play areas, farm animals, educational centre and many more. The project is due to open beginning of June 2011.
